Man United fans are playing the Cantona card as FA rule out Aguero punishment

Aguero was seen lashing out at a Wigan fan during Monday's game

Sergio Aguero will face no action from the FA following an incident following Manchester City’s shock FA Cup exit at Wigan on Monday evening.

Having watched their side defeat the runaway Premier League leaders with Will Griggs’ second-half winner, some Wigan fans invaded the DW Stadium’s pitch following the full-time whistle.

Cameras picked up the moment Aguero appeared to lash out at one supporter as he attempted to make his way off the field. It’s since come to light that City are considering legal action after the Argentine striker gave the club’s lawyers his version of events.

After spending the day in discussions with both clubs about the events that followed full-time, the FA have informed City that Aguero will face no disciplinary action for his role in the altercation.

This development has not gone down well with some Manchester United supporters, many of which pointed out how Eric Cantona faced a ban after kicking a Crystal Palace supporter in 1995. Although on that occasion, the incident took place in the stands – not on the pitch – many attempted to draw parallels between what had happened with Aguero at the DW:
