Manchester United have 'cancelled Christmas' as part of wider cost-cutting measures by the club to reduce their spending.
This comes as part of further measures by new part-owners INEOS to stem the club’s haemorrhaging money issue which even meant cutting ties with the greatest person in the club’s history, Sir Alex Ferguson, as reported yesterday.
Ferguson left in 2013, following on from a 26-year tenure during which he won 38 trophies, but was retained as a global club ambassador and club director.
For this job he was compensated generously with an annual salary which totalled millions of pounds per year.
However, this deal has been amicably ended and this is not the only measure the club has taken to streamline United's finances.
The Athletic also reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ended the end of year Christmas bash for employees with only the players having the privilege of celebrating Christmas at the club.
This is just another of a multitude of measures taken to reduce overheads at the club after Ratcliffe let 250 employees go since buying a minority share in the club.
Elsewhere, private and paid for travel for staff has also been axed, including to the FA Cup final in May with other perks like lunch, accommodation, extra tickets and a post-match party being scrapped.
