A wide-ranging consultation will include a formal questionnaire to be filled out by 'Cityzen members' at Saturday's home game with Bournemouth, as well as a consultation office in City Square, next to the stadium.
Fans will also be able to convey their views via City's website. The consultation period will last until November 14, after which the club will report on the outcome.
As Chief executive officer Ferran Soriano explains:
'The badge is the most visual representation of Manchester City and is so central to our heritage,
'We are looking for our fans to share their views as to what they consider to be the most authentic symbols of the club. The views of our Cityzens are essential to the process; they will have a real say on the future of our badge.'
