It just had to be the front tooth, didn’t it?

Lucas Torreira was involved in an entertaining game on Saturday as Fiorentina’s drew 1-1 with Inter Milan in the Serie A – which saw him score and lose break his tooth.

The 26-year-old – who is on loan from Arsenal – opened the scoring for Vincenzo Italiano’s side at the San Siro. However, he later took a knock to the face as he contested a high ball, receiving extensive treatment before returning to the field with a ball of cotton wool in his mouth.

It later became clear Torreira had broken a tooth in his tooth in the incident, appearing to pull it out himself before sprinting over to the touchline to hand it to the kitman.

The Uruguayan midfielder was able to finish the match despite the horror injury, and was able to laugh about the incident after full-time.

Following the hard-fought draw, the Fiorentina man was in good spirits and posted a photo on Twitter to show the injury he sustained while waiting for his doping test.

The midfielder has been in impressive form for the Serie A side this season, registering four goals in 25 league appearances.

Despite typically operating as a holding midfielder, Torreira is currently the joint-top scorer at Fiorentina after Dusan Vlahovic left for Juventus.

Recent reports have suggested that Fiorentina are keen to make Torreira’s loan move permanent and are considering activating the £12.5million option to buy in his contract.

Italiano’s men currently sit eight in the Serie A table, having won 14 of their 29 league matches, and remain just one point behind Atalanta in sixth.
