Despite this, it seems that the club's belief in manager Louis van Gaal is unwavering.

United are apparently sticking to the plan to have assistant boss Ryan Giggs succeed the Dutchman when his contract expires in the summer of 2017.
The story suggests that the Glazer family who own the club and chariman Ed Woodward believe Van Gaal 'is laying strong structures that can be followed after he departs' and that they 'value his management'.
A large portion of United fans hold precisely the opposite view, with many eyeing newly-available Jose Mourinho and still more demanding the club pursue Pep Guardiola when the Bayern Munich boss hits the market this summer.
