Liverpool supporters fear the absolute worst regarding remaining Premier League fixtures

"Winnable" is a big term

Liverpool have no more games against the current top six in the Premier League.

While that fact would be celebrated by fans of most clubs, it’s less simple for Reds supporters to appreciate.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have developed a strange habit of turning up regularly for the so-called “big games” while they have struggled on several occasions against opposition that most would consider beatable.

Defeats to relegation-threatened Hull, Leicester and Swansea in the Premier League since the turn of the year, coupled with their FA Cup elimination at the hands of Championship side Wolves, has left many Liverpool supporters dreading those kinds of fixtures.

But the Reds seem to come alive against the bigger teams, having racked up 20 points in the mini-league being fought out by six sides at the top of the table, with their draw against Manchester City on Sunday their last encounter with top six opposition for this campaign.

Between now and the end of the season, Liverpool will face Everton (H), Bournemouth (H), Stoke City (A), West Brom (A), Crystal Palace (H), Watford (A), Southampton (H), West Ham (A) and Middlesbrough (H).

On paper, that’s not the most daunting run-in and is arguably the most favourable when you look at the remaining fixtures of Liverpool’s rivals for the top four.

But supporters are more than a little aware that that points aren’t won paper, especially when you’re Liverpool.
