Liverpool to return for a former transfer target in the summer

Jurgen Klopp will have funds available to bolster Liverpool's squad for next season.

Liverpool secured their place in the Champions League final qualification round on the final day of the Premier League season with a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough. Klopp relied on a relatively small squad during the 2016/17 season, but will need to add quality and quantity if the club are to compete in Europe and improve on their fourth place finish. According to the Independent, the Liverpool manager will have £100m to spend, and the club will reignite their interest in Mohamed Salah, three years after originally trying to sign the Egyptian winger. Salah chose Chelsea over Liverpool back in 2014, joining the club from Basle for £11m. However, the 24-year-old only played 19 games for the London club, and joined Roma last summer for £13m. He has impressed in Serie A, scoring 15 goals, and making 11 assists, in 30 league games last season. The Egyptian's pace would be a real asset to Klopp's side, who have at times struggled to break teams down when Sadio Mane has been absent. [caption id="attachment_126701" align="alignnone" width="700"] Via Who Scored.[/caption] Virgil Van Dijk is also reportedly a target for Klopp. However, the Southampton central defender is wanted by Chelsea and Manchester City, and could move for £50m.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Arsenal winger, and Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, are also said to be targets for Liverpool, while Klopp retains interest in Borussia Dortmund's 18-year-old winger Christian Pulisic.

Last week, the Independent reported that Liverpool are interested in Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson, and Fulham's talented 17-year-old Ryan Sessegnon. It appears Klopp is seeking a left-back, a central defender, another central midfielder and more pace in attack.
