Are you watching, Jurgen?

Liverpool have an exciting wave of talent coming through their academy, with boss Jurgen Klopp keen to see the best of them kick on and force their way into his first team.

One of these prospects is Kevin Stewart, who began his career at Tottenham before joining the Reds in 2014. He has since had loan spells at Cheltenham, Burton Albion and Swindon, and has made 11 appearances for Liverpool.

But if Klopp needed a reminder as to Stewart’s talent, look no further than this training ground goal the young midfielder posted on his Instagram account on Thursday.

He controls the ball on his chest, flicks it twice with his foot, before a header and and a left-foot volley into the top corner.

Stewart has only managed 18 minutes of top flight football for Liverpool, but the club’s former U23s boss Michael Beale is adamant he can make the step up to regular performer.

“He’s a much stronger player in training than you’ve seen from him in games at the moment and he’s had some big games, the Barcelona game. There’s more to come,” he said.

Beale revealed Liverpool had received offers for Stewart, but insisted he wanted the club’s top brass to see him first.

He said: “I was adamant he shouldn’t go anywhere until we had put him in front of the manager. It took a little bit of time while. We put him in front of Brendan [Rodgers] and he liked him but he wasn’t ready.

“We put him again in front of Jurgen and if the Exeter game [in the FA Cup] doesn’t happen then Kev Stewart doesn’t appear.”
