Liverpool dealt another crushing injury blow as Ings ruled out for the season…

Liverpool have suffered another bitterly crushing injury blow after Danny Ings was ruled out for the season with cruciate ligament damage.

The summer signing from Burnley won his first cap for England against Lithuania on Monday, before returning to Liverpool where he hoped to impress new manager Jurgen Klopp.

But after pulling up following an innocuous challenge in training on Wednesday, the striker was sent for a scan which revealed the damage to his anterior cruciate ligament.

Ings will now face six to nine months of rehabilitation, which means he is likely to play no further part this season and miss Euro 2016.
