Despite impressing for their B side and floating around the first team squad, Tello was never really given a run in the Barca starting XI and in July 2014, he was loaned out to Porto for two years.
Now Portuguese newspaper A Bola report that the Merseyside clubs have both been scouting Tello during his time in Primeira Liga, and have been impressed with what they've seen.
It remains to be seen whether either club would be allowed to cut short the player's loan deal, or whether they'd have to bide their time until his stay in Portugal ends in June.
