Lionel Messi reveals where he would like to end his playing career

Luring Lionel Messi away from Barcelona would be an expensive endeavour.

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola may like to imagine the situation could become a reality, but it seems the Argentine isn’t for moving. The 28 year old is on course to lead Barcelona to even more silverware this season, but teams hoping he may get sick of life in La Liga will be disappointed by his latest comments. Speaking to a magazine in his native Argentina, the Rosario native admits his heart is set on returning to his homeland someday, which could rule out a move to the Premier League.

"It's something that I would still like to do. I don't know when, but it's a possibility," he said. "I haven't set myself any goals, short or long term, but I'd like to keep playing whilst my body allows it and I have something to offer the team. When I know that it's time, I'll make a decision."

Messi also admits he has been left frustrated by his inability to transfer his club success to that of his country. The international captain has failed to lead the country to a World Cup or Copa America title, and he thinks winning things with a team is better than any individual accolade.

"I prefer to win something with the national team. 'I am not interested in records. They are there, but that does not make you win titles," Messi added. "I get upset whenever we lose with Argentina because I know that we should have won. We did enough to win the World Cup and the Copa America."
