Well, when we say ‘playing’ we mean it in the loosest sense of the word.
The former Aston Villa defender/car tweeter/relegation enjoyer left Villa Park for Greece over the summer, joining AEK Athens in one of those moves that people don’t realise has happened until years later.
Well, as luck would have it, the England tournament goalscorer (no, really) has left the Greek capital after just three months and four appearances.
AEK FC and Joleon Lescott mutual agreed the termination of his contract.

According to the Daily Record, Lescott and the club have agreed to part ways following a disagreement over the centre-back’s rehabilitation from injury.
Lescott had spent time back in England after suffering a knee problem in October, returning to Athens at the end of the month, and the Scottish paper reports that the club took issue with him wanting to recuperate back in the UK.
The 34-year-old, who was part of Manchester City’s Premier League title-winning squads in 2011/2 and 2013/14, last played for England in 2013.
He scored his first and only international goal in his country’s 1-1 draw with France at Euro 2012, winning 26 caps in total, and also played Premier League football for Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa and was in Wolves’ 2003/04 squad but injury meant he didn’t make it onto the pitch as they were relegated.
