Left hand of Nottingham’s Paul Daley is one of the scariest weapons in all of MMA

Just ask Lorenz Larkin

Darragh Murphy

Stand with Paul Daley at your peril!

It may be over seven years since Daley was kicked out of the UFC, the world’s preeminent mixed martial arts organisation, for striking an opponent after the final bell but the Nottingham welterweight remains one of the most dangerous strikers walking the earth.

Like Chuck Liddell’s overhand right, Mirko Cro Cop’s head kick and Conor McGregor’s counter left, Daley possesses something of a trademark strike which, if it finds the mark, usually robs opponents of their consciousness.

Daley’s left hook is a thing of devastating beauty and it was that strike which cemented his status as one of the best 170lbers walking the planet on Saturday night, when he starched Lorenz Larkin on the Bellator 183 main card .

His new promotion’s estimation of Larkin’s ability is perhaps best highlighted by the fact that he was awarded an immediate title shot after jumping ship from the UFC earlier this year but ‘The Monsoon’ suddenly finds himself 0-2 under the Bellator banner after feeling the full weight of Daley’s explosive hook.

‘Semtex’ sent shockwaves through Larkin’s whole body after escaping a clinch against the fence and uncorking his patented chin-tester to brutal effect.

The victory is Daley’s 40th in professional MMA and the 33-year-old also holds an impressive record in pro kickboxing.

There’s a reason nobody should ever stand with Daley. And it’s a very, very good reason.
