Laurent Blanc is only the second manager to inflict defeat on a Guus Hiddink Chelsea team

Edison Cavani’s late goal might have taken some of the shine off a decent Chelsea performance in Paris, but as we always hear after the first leg of a Champions League tie – ‘it’s only half-time’.

Paris Saint-Germain v Chelsea FC - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: First Leg

The 2-1 defeat was the first suffered by Guus Hiddink since returning to Chelsea. Incredibly, the Dutchman also only lost once in his first spell with the club in 2009, when he was given the job after the dismissal of Luiz Felipe Scolari.

That year, Chelsea only exited the Champions League on away goals to Barcelona and won the FA Cup.

Their only defeat came in the league, with Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham beating them by one Luca Modric goal.
