Khabib challenges Floyd Mayweather to fight after McGregor win

It looks like Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Floyd Mayweather could be on the cards

Footage has emerged showing Khabib Nurmagomedov challenging Floyd Mayweather to a fight, following his victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 229 last weekend.

Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, posted a video of himself and Khabib to Instagram. In it, Khabib says: “Let’s go Floyd we have to fight now – 50-0 vs 27-0 – two guys who never lose. Let’s go, why not?

“Because in the jungle there is only one king. Only one king. Of course I am the king because he could not drop McGregor and I dropped him easily. Let’s go.”

To which Ellerbe replies: “You’ll get some of that work, baby.”

Beating Mayweather would mean Khabib going one better than Conor McGregor, who lost a boxing match to the now 50-0 fighter last August.

Khabib and his UFC 229 opponent Conor McGregor are both currently suspended from the UFC following their actions after their lightweight title fight. The event saw a mass brawl between the pair’s respective entourages.

Their UFC suspensions began for ten days on Monday 15 October, and could be extended indefinitely following an investigation and a subsequent hearing, which is set to take place on Wednesday 24 October.

Nurmagomedov is likely reviewing his options for future fights in the aftermath of the incident. Following Dana White’s claim that he could ban his teammate Zubaira Tukhugov from competing in the UFC, Khabib wrote on Instagram: “If you decide to fire him, you should know that you’ll lose me too.

“We never give up on our brothers in Russia and I will go to the end for my Brother. If you still decide to fire him, don’t forget to send me my broken contract, otherwise I’ll break it myself.

“And one more thing, you can keep my money that you are withholding. You are pretty busy with that, I hope it won’t get stuck in your throat. We have defended our honor and this is the most important thing. We intend to go to the end.”
