What happened after the fight brought an ugly end to an historic occasion. Khabib attacked Dillon Danis, whilst his teammates attacked Conor McGregor. Three of them were arrested but have since been released after McGregor refused to press charges.
At the post-fight press conference, Dana White addressed all that had gone before. In what was supposed to be a night of celebration for the promoter has turned into a night of madness.
He highlighted that Khabib is in serious trouble as a result of the events and even went as far as to say that he could indeed be stripped of his belt.
Depending on how long of a suspension the Nevada State Athletic Commission hand down, the UFC could have no choice but to strip the champion.
"We'll see the Nevada State Athletic Commission is going to hand down some type of you know fine, suspension or whatever's going to happen that's up to them, we'll see," said White.
"And then, I don't know.
"Listen, if he gets suspended, and it depends on how long his suspension is then yeah he's probably going to get stripped if it's a long suspension."
The situation descended into chaos, and there is no way that Khabib will get off lightly.
When asked where the situation ranked as crazy moments in his career White said it was the craziest.
"Number one... Two and three."
He knows a fine and suspension are likely, but Khabib's actions may have cost him the title he took so long to win.Football
