Kamaru Usman has jumped to the defence of Jorge Masvidal after Conor McGregor took to social media to make his feelings about Gamebred known.

Masvidal has suffered back-to-back defeats against Usman in welterweight UFC title fights, with the American having also pulled out of his fight against Leon Edwards, which was scheduled for December.

Gamebred celebrated his 37th birthday on November 12, with McGregor posting a message on his special day – unsurprisingly, it wasn’t wishing him a good day.

“It’s also Jorge Masvidal’s birthday but he a b**** for bottling the fight against Leon. F*** your “injury”. You sign to fight, you fight,” the Irishman tweeted.

“Strip that belt from him that he never even won. H** in a housecoat. The f** was that about as well? Last seasons Versace house coat hahaha,’ McGregor added, referencing Masvidal’s manufactured ‘Baddest Motherf***** in the Game’ belt and the robe he wore at ringside for UFC 246.”

Usman was quick to fire back at the former featherweight and lightweight double-champion, tweeting: “You should be quiet. You cry about injuries more than anyone after you get your a**whipped. Foot, ankle, shin, what else am I missing?”

The Nigerian Nightmare has been ridiculed in recent months for seemingly copying McGregor’s trash talk in press conferences, with Usman appearing to use a number of McGregor’s classic one-liners, sometimes even using an Irish pronunciation.

With this in mind, The Notorious snapped back at the reigning UFC Welterweight Champion, criticising him for lacking ‘originality’.

“Ye you’re missing something bro for sure. Don’t quite know what tho. Originality maybe? I don’t know, something,” McGregor replied.

“It’s like, nobody cares. No one cares what the f*** you’re at. And you try so hard too, I just don’t know. Somethings missing for you tho for sure. God bless anyway.”

Although McGregor has continued to dominate away from the cage, his previous three performances have left fans incredibly disappointed.

He was submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov before suffering two underwhelming defeats against Dustin Poirier.
