Jurgen Klopp confirms midfielder will be out for opening months of the season

Not the news Reds supporters needed

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Adam Lallana will not feature for Liverpool for a number of months.

Lallana picked up a thigh injury in Liverpool’s Audi Cup final against Atletico Madrid in Munich on Wednesday evening and while it was initially believed that he would recover in a matter of weeks, the club confirmed that the midfielder would be out until October at the absolute earliest.

It’s entirely possible that the England international will not be available until even later in the year and the injury comes as an unwelcome headache for Klopp, who will now be even more desperate to keep a hold of Philippe Coutinho.

“This is certainly not news we would have wanted,” Klopp told the club’s website.

“Unfortunately, the damage is such that it will likely mean Adam is out for a couple of months not weeks, so I think we can pretty much rule him out of August and September.

“Beyond that we will monitor and wait and see. He is a boy with a world-class attitude to everything professionally and he has always come back in good time from injury setbacks since I have been here, so we will see.”

The below reactions tell you everything you need to know about supporters’ takes on the matter.
