Mourinho recently led Roma to Europa Conference League glory

Roma boss Jose Mourinho is being strongly considered to become the new Paris Saint-Germain manager, according to reports.

As per talkSPORT, the Portuguese coach is being lined-up to replace Mauricio Pochettino in the Le Parc des Princes hot-seat.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager led Roma to Europa Conference League glory last month, with the Italian outfit becoming the competition’s inaugural winners.

Roma finished sixth in the Serie A table during the 2021/22 season, qualifying them for next season’s Europa League, reaching the competition after finishing a point ahead of Fiorentina in seventh place.

It comes after reports that PSG are reportedly finalising the sacking of Pochettino in the coming days, with the Parisians also set to announce the departure of director of Leonardo.

Pochettino under immense pressure

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss is under contract with the Ligue 1 champions until the end of next season, but speculation surrounding his future has been mounting ever since PSG exited the Champions League.

As reported by well-respected football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, PSG ‘are oriented to sacking Mauricio Pochettino in the coming days. One more meeting is needed to make official decision – it will take place once Nasser Al Khelaifi’s back’.

Roma’s Mourinho-inspired victory in Albania saw him become the first ever manager to win all three of Europe’s three club competitions, the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.
