John Guidetti surely regrets his pre-match comments after his last second miss against Manchester United

Awkward

John Guidetti certainly got his comeuppance for his pre-match comments.

The Swedish striker has a personal vendetta against Manchester United from his days spent as a youth player at Manchester City/ being loaned out to different clubs while being on City’s books.

Well, things didn’t really work out for Guidetti at the Etihad and in 2015, he was snapped up on a free by Celta Vigo.

When his club drew the Red Devils in the Europa League semi-final, he must have been rubbing his hands together. At pretty much every opportunity during match week, he was taking shots at his old club’s city rivals.

He criticised them for being ‘defensive time-wasters’ and right before the second leg, he came out with the following gem:

“Manchester is blue and that’s how it will be when we visit there as well.”

Guidetti was handed a glorious opportunity to not only be a hero to Celta Vigo’s fans, but also plant his blue flag in Old Trafford to claim it as blue.

In the dying moments of the game, the score was 1-1 on the night and 2-1 to United on aggregate. However, Celta Vigo had that crucial away goal. One more goal would have sealed it.

When the ball landed at Guidetti’s feet inside the box, he did the unthinkable with what turned out to be the second last kick of the match… he fucked up.
