Jeff Bezos has now been confirmed a Liverpool co-owner and will have a round a third of the six time European champions.
Fenway Sports Group confirmed on Friday that it has sold a slice of the Premier League club to K5 Sports, an investment consortium for which the Amazon founder is the lead investor, in a deal that values the Reds at more than £5bn.
BBC Sport reported that the consortium is buying around a third of the club, leaving FSG, which is the majority owner since 2010, in overall control at Anfield.
The Mirror reported that Liverpool’s owners had been in talks with the group for a number of weeks, and Sky News confirmed earlier on Friday that an agreement had been concluded.
It is a first move into English football for Bezos, one of the richest people in the world. It also caps a striking week for wealthy business figures buying into sport, according to Variety.
A price tag north of £5bn is another leap for a club whose worth has climbed steadily under FSG, and it reframes where Liverpool's valuation ranks among sport's biggest clubs.
Neither FSG nor K5 Sports has set out how the investment will be used, and no changes to Liverpool’s football operation have been announced.
For Liverpool fans, the immediate question is what a new co-owner of that scale means for spending and for the club’s ambitions across the 2026/27 Premier League season.
