But fast-forward a month or so and things have taken a decidedly sour turn. Chapman has been blocked by both Vardy and his new wife Rebekah on all social media channels and he has been disowned by the man whose face he shares. It seems the joke has got old very quickly.
Now, after online criticism, Rebekah Vardy has spoken out about blocking Chapman, branding him a 'stalker' for his over-eager attention. She certainly didn't take kindly to Twitter criticism that the likes of the lookalike pay her husband's wages, arguing: "Being a season ticket holder doesn't give you the green light to become a stalker!"

According to the Independent, she later added:
"I personally wished him all the best but also asked him to STOP tagging himself into every picture I put up...Of my family which usually had my children in. Also tagging his agency & promoting their business..."
Chapman for his part has responded with dismay and bafflement. He refutes claims he is a 'stalker' and is concerned about how such suggestions will reflect upon him:
"I can't understand why I am supposed to be a stalker. I've only met her once and I don't tag her in any of my Twitter posts. I have no idea, I don't get it. I can't help the way I look and I'm not costing them anything.
"This could affect my relationship with the club. I have been a Leicester fan since I was a kid. I'm very disappointed."Explore more on these topics:
