The former Arsenal midfielder is expected to join the Hammers imminently

Jack Wilshere is set to complete a medical with West Ham ahead of a free transfer in the coming days, with the ex-Arsenal man expected to join up with the squad at their pre-season base in Switzerland.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a wide range of clubs since news emerged that he had not been offered a new contract by Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

Rumours had circulated that a move to the Turkish Super Lig was on the horizon, but it would appear that the chance to say in London has seen Hammers’ new manager Manuel Pellegrini pip Fenerbahce to the post.

Wilshere has suffered myriad injuries since breaking into the Arsenal first team as a 16-year-old, and missed the entirety of the 2011/12 season through injury.

After a 2016/17 loan spell at Bournemouth, the midfielder went on to play 20 Premier League games for Arsenal last season, but new manager Emery – who replaced Arsene Wenger at the end of the season – evidently didn’t see enough to convinced him that Wilshere had a future at the club.
