Jack Wilshere signs for Danish Superliga side Aarhus Gymnastikforening

Wilshere has finally found a new club

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has signed for Danish Superliga side Aarhus Gymnastikforening. On Sunday (February 20), local media reported that the ex-England man had signed for AGF, who currently sit seventh in the Danish top-flight. The 30-year-old, who has recently been training with the Gunners to maintain his fitness, has been without a club since leaving Bournemouth at the end of last season. Danish outfit AGF teased his arrival on Sunday afternoon, posting a video of a home shirt with the number 10 on the back hanging from a cannon, featuring the caption: 'In coming...' https://twitter.com/AGFFodbold/status/1495417657293778948 It was confirmed shortly afterwards, with an announcement video typical of the social media age, showing a club chief watching his famous goal vs Norwich before Wilshere emerges and says: "Sign him" https://twitter.com/AGFFodbold/status/1495453182889181190?s=20&t=CAHYaQ0xpxqhLS19IxpTQw Wilshere failed to find a club since leaving Bournemouth at the end of last campaign and recently came close to joining Serie B side Como, but the move failed to materialise as he is a non-EU player. Despite training with Arsenal, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta confirmed last month there are no plans to offer the midfielder a short-term deal.

The Englishman - who spent two decades at Arsenal before leaving for West Ham in 2018 - has not played football competitively since making a substitute appearance in the first leg of the 2021 play-off semi-final between Bournemouth and Brentford.

He made 18 appearances in all competitions in the second half of last season for the Cherries.
