The Englishman - who spent two decades at Arsenal before leaving for West Ham in 2018 - has not played football competitively since making a substitute appearance in the first leg of the 2021 play-off semi-final between Bournemouth and Brentford.
He made 18 appearances in all competitions in the second half of last season for the Cherries.
