It won’t take long to spot the mistake in Victor Anichebe’s deleted tweet

Oops...

Given their hectic lifestyles, an increasing number of professional footballers are finding that there’s simply not enough time in the day to take their phones from their pockets and send out the odd sub-140-character tweet here and there.

Because of this, many of them have opted to let someone else manage their Twitter (and other social media) accounts instead.

One of those players appears to be Sunderland striker Victor Anichebe who, having watched his side’s 1-0 defeat at West Ham from the bench on Saturday, decided it was a good time to send a message to those supporters that made the trip to London.

‘Unbelievable support yesterday and great effort by the lads,’ read Anichebe’s message. ‘Hard result to take! But we go again!’

Nothing wrong with that, but it seems that whoever was responsible for sending the tweet accidentally included an extra line…

Anichebe appears to have advised the person responsible for sending the tweet of what should be included in it (which begs the question why didn’t he just send it himself?). Having copied and pasted it, it seems the sender only realised that they’d forgotten to delete the first line after it had gone out to Anichebe’s 12,600 followers.

Still, it’s not quite as bad as a player’s social media manager mistaking which club their client has just signed for…
