Sheffield Wednesday came back from 2-0 down to go into injury time level with Bristol City. Then they ruined an Irishman’s night.

The punter was set to win himself over €1,300 (just over £1,100) after correctly calling three out of four matches as draws in his €10 accumulator.

All he was waiting on was for the final whistle to go at Hillsborough.

Wednesday were playing out a thriller at home to the Robins but the game looked to be heading for a draw. Four goals, three yellow cards and two reds were shared and, in return, Wednesday and City were set to be rewarded with a point apiece.

“I spoke more to the heart of the players because it wasn’t down to their attitude. My players received the message and we did fantastic in the second half.”

For one Irish punter, the Wednesday players received the message a little too well.
