Some Irish fans were quick to correct the QPR faithful on their Ryan Manning chant

Hold on a bloody minute.

Patrick McCarry

What an amazing week for Ryan Manning.

The 20-year-old was not even on the squad list in QPR programmes at the start of the season. He was on hardly any lips in London up until early December.

Manning got his chance with QPR under Ian Holloway and, ever since then, he has not looked back. On Saturday afternoon, he pounced on an awful Fulham backpass to give his side a lead in an eventual 1-1 draw.

That goal aside, Manning was immense and he told Sky Sports the past few weeks, during which he signed a new contract that keeps him with the club until 2019, had been ‘a whirlwind’.

Irish supporters, especially those who follow domestic league there, will know all about Manning’s potential. He was picked up from Galway and is now, well and truly, making his mark in The Championship.

There was one QPR chant that worried more than a few Irish supporters hoping for Martin O’Neill to call the 20-year-old up as soon as possible.

The R’s fans may have been claiming him until 2019 but England have been warned off!
