Ian Ayre pens letter to fan that applied for Liverpool job following successful FIFA career

Robert Redmond

Jurgen Klopp had competition for the Liverpool job.

The German was the outright favourite for the position with bookmakers, and Liverpool fans and the media have certainly welcomed his appointment.

Klopp enjoyed phenomenal success in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, and before that with Mainz, but has he ever taken Portsmouth from League Two to winning both the Premier League and the Champions League in four years?

Adam Kneale has (on Fifa 15) and because of such incredible success he naturally felt he was in with a shot for the top job at Liverpool.

Unfortunately for Adam, he was overlooked in favour of Klopp, but he can console himself with a letter from Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre.

“Unfortunately, we are unable to process your interest at this time as we are looking for someone with more experience in the professional game,” Ayre wrote, in the letter Adam posted to his Facebook page.

“In relation to the experience that you have provided; taking Portsmouth Football Club from the 2nd Division and going on to winning the Premier League and Champions League in four seasons on FIFA 15, it is not the required standard of experience that we are looking for at this time.”
