Ok, the Olympics are already brilliant.

But one Twitter user has come up with a simple plan to make them even better. Watching Usain Bolt run the 100 metres is mighty impressive - but it's a little hard to quantify just how impressive, given that all the other guys in the race will finish less than a second behind him. Blink at the wrong moment and you probably wouldn't even know who has won. It's the same in the other sports - Tom Daley's dives look amazing, but so do all the other competitors. It's a testament to the fact elite sport is now at such a high level that the difference between winning and losing is now such a tiny margin - but perhaps counter-intuitively that can make it look less impressive. But now Twitter user @aoiph has hit on a great plan to show just how incredible the Olympians' achievements are. https://twitter.com/aoiph/status/762411144380309506

It would cost virtually nothing, and just imagine how it would play out:

More of a school sports day vibe, when they do the parents' races.

It would also doubtless lead to a heart-warming Hollywood movie, telling the tale of Jim from Wicklow's rise from council estate to the Olympics. We're thinking maybe Tom Hardy for the lead?
