Despite not playing a single second of football for Northern Ireland in France, Grigg managed to become one of the stars of Euro 2016. The reason for his unlikely stardom was that his chant being just so God damn infectious.
Northern Ireland fans belted out "Will Grigg's on fire" from the stands during every single one of the Green and White Army's matches in the tournament, including their final game of Group C against Germany.
Grigg, who finished last season as League One's top marksman with 25 goals for Wigan Athletic as they secured promotion, has been linked with a move away from the DW Stadium. Celtic, Hull and Nottingham Forest are thought to be the most likely destinations for the 24-year-old but Hamburg fans have made it clear that they want their club to enter the race.
The fans have started a petition to encourage their club to snap up the Northern Irishman which, at the time of writing, has attracted more than 7,000 signatures.
The petition argues that Grigg could be the cult hero the loyal Hamburg support so desperately crave, that his presence would bring a much better atmosphere to the crowd and that the cost of the transfer could easily be recouped through merchandising revenue.
What a time to be alive!
