Glenn Hoddle said he is ‘flattered’ by recent links to the England Manager job

We think it's far too early to be having a serious discussion about the next England manager given the diabolical nature of the Three Lions' Euro 2016 exit.

It's not yet been a week since the defeat to tournament newbies Iceland, and at this point no appointment would make us flinch. Give it to Danny Dyer, or Ed Miliband, or Richard & Judy, or Punch & Judy. Maybe we should just assemble a collection of funny memes to manage England. Luckily, we're not the ones making those decisions, and now Roy Hodgson has been relieved of his duties, there has already been a lot of chatter about who the next man to step up will be. The former Spurs, Chelsea and AS Monaco midfielder has already managed the national side between 1996-1999, taking them to the last 16 of the 1998 World Cup in France. The 58-year-old has not worked in a senior management role since a spell at Wolves 10 years ago, but said he was pleased to hear his name mentioned. "I am flattered that people in football are saying that perhaps I should have another go at it," Hoddle said on ITV. "I’ve not had contact from the FA but if they did come then I would talk to them about whatever role they want. But I can assure you there has been no contact. "The bottom line is if they come and want to talk, I’ll talk. They might just want some feedback, they might have their guy already. "They are doing the right thing by taking their time. It is a big call for them and for the country." You can say that again, Glenn. We're not sure we can take much more of this.
