Ex-Arsenal and FIFA legend Gervinho still going at 35 as he agrees to joins new club

The king is not quite finished just yet…

Former Arsenal attacker Gervinho has reportedly agreed to join Aris Thessaloniki this summer after just one season at Trabzonspor.

The 35-year-old, who played for the Gunners between 2011 and 2013, endured a difficult season in Turkey where he struggled with injuries and featured on just nine occasions.

The former Ivory Coast international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in October, which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

Despite this, Gervinho – who is one of the most iconic figures in the history of EA Sports’ FIFA – did receive a Super Lig winner’s medal after registering two goals and an assist before his horror injury.

Ex-Gunners man (and FIFA legend) set for new challenge

Gervinho now looks set to depart for yet another new challenge, having played in England, Italy, France, Belgium, China and Turkey during his career.

As reported by Sport 24, Greek side Aris are close to securing the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winner’s signature. The forward is expected to arrive in Greece on Wednesday to undergo his medical before signing a one-year deal.

The Greek news outlet also claim that the ex-Arsenal man will not earn more than £424,000-a-year, which is roughly £8,000-a-week. This would mark a significant wage cut from his £24,000-a-week deal in Turkey.

Andre Gray also expected to sign for Aris

Should Gervinho complete his move to Aris, he would more than likely link-up with former Watford striker Andre Gray, who also looks set to join the club.

Gray – who was released by Watford this summer when his contract expired – scored 20 times and registered eight assists in 124 games across all competitions for the Hornets.
