Yesterday saw another thrilling entry into the canon of great Manchester derbies. City when in at half time with a 2-0 lead, without United having a single shot in the first 45 minutes, and looked certain to seal the Premier League title. But after the break, Paul Pogba finally stepped up and scored a brace, and then Chris Smalling (of all people) bagged the winner. And let’s not forget David De Gea’s jaw-dropping save. Not many would have predicted the comeback – but Manchester United legend Gary Neville did. On his Sky Sports podcast, Martin Tyler revealed that Neville had said to him at half time that he thought United still had goals in them. Tyler asked Neville about it, and Neville replied:
Actually Martin, I went a step further. I said, this is a WhatsApp message: ‘United score, they will win, useless first half’ - this was to a group of friends! I just thought that [City] had got away with it.
We hope he screenshot that message, keeps bringing it up anytime anyone questions him about any prediction he makes.
