Gareth Bale to make PGA Tour debut

Gareth Bale has wasted no time in finding a new career after retiring from football as he prepares to embark on his new journey into golf. Bale has made no secret of his love for the sport in recent years and will take part in his first PGA Tour event in February. Confirming the news on Instagram, he said: "Delighted to announce I will be playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at the start of next month! He'll be going up against 156 professionals as well as other celebrities, which includes Bill Murray, who starred in the Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day and Caddyshack. Another celebrity joining them will also be famous musician Macklemore. Given that he's just retired from professional football, Bale will no doubt have an athletic edge over his fellow A-listers. His well-known love for golf caused plenty of controversy during his playing career. At Real Madrid, his reputation was severely tainted after he unveiled a banner which read: 'Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order'. With his career at Los Blancos more or less over after that, the winger was subsequently loaned to Tottenham - the club he departed to join Madrid in 2013 - the following season. Although his footballing career is over, Wales boss Rob Page has admitted he wants to keep Bale in and around the camp and has even offered him a coaching/ambassadorial role ahead of their qualifying campaign for the 2024 European Championships.
