Gabi Garcia stupidly overweight for fight with 53-year-old opponent

As if the fight wasn't ridiculous enough

Gabi Garcia could have cut off a leg and still would have struggled to make the weight limit for her fight this weekend.

Garcia came in a staggering 28lbs over the 209lbs weight limit for her bout on the Rizin FF 8 card on Friday and her opponent was not one bit happy about it.

Former professional wrestler Shinobu Kandori, who just so happens to be 53 years old, was furious when she discovered that Garcia came in 75lbs heavier than her.

After weighing in at 162.25lbs, Kandori began shouting at Garcia’s failed attempt before she stormed out of the room.

Commentator Joe Ferraro took to Twitter to report that Rizin boss Nobuyuki Sakakibara said: “Competition-wise, we cannot make this happen!” but the fight has not been officially cancelled yet.

Kandori has not competed in mixed martial arts in 17 years and figures from the MMA world are shocked that the freakshow fight was even made in the first place, with esteemed coach John Kavanagh condemning the fight as disgraceful.

Garcia was involved in one of the stranger fights of 2016, when she faced off with a 49-year-old on New Year’s Eve and battered her into defeat after she bounced off the ropes like a WWE superstar.

The BJJ black belt simply doesn’t do normal fights but it would be negligent to allow her to go ahead with her scheduled bout this weekend.
