French policeman can’t move Irish fans so joins in the singing instead

He's loving it

It’s a tough job trying to maintain law and order.

We all know the Irish fans have been brilliantly behaved over in France.

While there has been trouble elsewhere, from Paris to Bordeaux wherever the Irish fans have gathered there has simply been drinking and singing, singing and drinking. And a bit more singing and drinking thrown in for good measure.

Sure they’ve even been cleaning up after themselves.

Despite all that you would feel a little bit for the French police who have a duty to keep mundane things like traffic flow as efficient as possible which, we’re going to go out on a limb and say, isn’t something that’s of much concern to the average Irish supporter in France.

On Friday night, as the heavens opened in Bordeaux, a large number of boys and girls in green gathered under a bridge to seek shelter from the rain.

There they sang and drank much like they’ve been doing everywhere else. So far, so good.

The problem came when the rain stopped and the French police tried to move the fans on so that the tunnel they were blocking could be used for, you know, cars and stuff.

The green army simply refused to budge, running through the full repertoire of songs as the gendarmes grow increasingly exasperated.

Eventually one policeman cracks and tries to get through to the fans through song.

He grabs the megaphone and breaks into a version of ‘Go home for the French police’.

It’s about 2 mins 56 seconds into this video but the whole thing is well worth a watch.
