Francesco Totti responds perfectly after falling victim to youngster’s skill

This is what happens when you try and make Francesco Totti look silly

For a few seconds, some of those in the crowd were actually laughing at Francesco Totti.

It didn’t last long.

Two years on from calling time on his playing career, the 42-year-old was taking part in the Al Roudan futsal tournament in Kuwait this week when a young opponent flicked the ball over his head, leaving the Roma legend for dead as he skipped away on the attack.

As the footage below shows, Totti makes no real attempt to get back and win the ball back. Instead he waits for the attack to break down, then darts forward into the opponent half to receive a floated pass from his teammate.

The ball bouncing once before getting to him, he effortlessly lofts it over the goalkeeper, who is off his line, and into the empty goal.

Let this be a warning. Though his better years may be behind him, disrespect Totti at your own peril.

Next week will mark the second anniversary of the former Italian international’s final game for AS Roma – the only club he played for during his 24-year career.

In total he scored 307 goals in 786 appearances for the club, leading them to their most recent Serie A title in 2001.

His former teammate at Roma, Daniele De Rossi, confirmed last week that he will leave the club when his contract expires in the summer. Unlike Totti, however, De Rossi intends to continue his playing career elsewhere.
