Four Premier League clubs have been hit with heavy fines by UEFA with one club receiving the second most expensive for a European club.
It's that time of year when UEFA dish out their fines for clubs across Europe and teams in the Premier League have not been spared.
The most heavily punished is Europa League champions Aston Villa, who were fined €22.5 (£19.4m) by UEFA for a "significant breach" of its squad-cost rule for 2025.
The club will also face a restriction on the registration of new players on their squad list for the Champions League next season.
Despite this scary figure, €15m (£12.9m) of it will be suspended, meaning the fine could be avoiding if they continue to significantly decrease their squad-cost ratio going forward.
Seeing as Villa were fined €11m (£9.5m) with a further conditional €15m euros (£12.9m) last year, the total has been rolled over.
Last year's fine came with a three-year compliance period.
Villa weren't the only team to be hit with fines, as Chelsea were handed a €3m (£2.6m) fine, of which €2m euros (£1.7m) is suspended.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will have to pay €2.5m euros (£2.2m), with Newcastle United being fine €3m (£2.6m).
Newcastle will also pay a further fine of €10m (£8.6m) to UEFA for an overspend in relation to their football earnings threshold.
Of this, €7m euros (£6m) has been suspended for three years pending future compliance.
