Former Olympique de Marseille midfielder Abdelaziz Barrada has died at the age of 35, the club has announced.

Barrada was part of the Morocco U-23 side that reached the Africa Cup of Nations final in 2011 and spent two years at Marseille.

They wrote on their X account: “The club would like to offer its sincerest condolences to his family and share their grief.”

Barrada also had stints in Turkey, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates as well as spending time at Spanish side Getafe before he retired in 2021.

He also played for Paris Saint Germain’s reserve side.

Paying tribute to their former player PSG wrote: “Paris St Germain extends its sincerest condolences to his family and friends.”

No cause of death has been officially announced for the French-born player who made 26 appearances for Morocco's senior team, but media reports in Morocco claim he suffered a heart attack.
