Those that think that Ryan Giggs is a shoe-in to be Louis van Gaal’s replacement as Man United manager, there may be a new contender.

Okay – so we may be jumping the gun a little by saying that, but one of Giggs’ former United teammates reportedly has plans to become a manager in English football.

Andrei Kanchelskis of Manchester United

Andrei Kanchelskis, the former United winger, has applied for the vacant role at Derry City, seeing it as an ideal stepping stone for a job in England, reports the Irish Mirror.

The Ukranian applied for the post over the weekend, after leaving his last management post with Latvian side FC Jurmala in November 2014.
