Similar to a number of players in recent seasons, former Leeds, Bury and Brentford striker Mike Grella has turned an undistinguished career in England into an MLS success story.
The 28-year-old, who also enjoyed a brief spell at Scunthorpe, is now plying his trade for the New York Red Bulls alongside Shaun and Bradley Wright-Phillips. And on Sunday, he wrote himself into the record books.
With just seven seconds on the clock in the Red Bulls' match against Philadelphia Union, Grella seized on a loose pass to fire home the fastest goal in MLS history.
It set the ball rolling for a 4-1 victory, which ensured the Red Bulls finished top of the Eastern Conference and qualify for the MLS Cup play-offs.
