Former Bury and England youth international Courtney Meppen-Walter dies aged 32

His former club have paid tribute following the news.

Meppen-Walter played for a number of English clubs during his career, including Carlisle United, Stockport County, and most recently Stalybridge Celtic, on loan from Bury.

It is Bury who took to social media to announce news of his passing, with a post that read: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player Courtney Meppen-Walter, at the age of 32.

“The thoughts and condolences of everyone at #buryfc are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”

No details regarding the circumstances leading to the 32-year-old's death have yet been made public.

Meppen-Walter was jailed in 2013 for a period of 16 months after he was found to have caused the deaths of a brother and sister by speeding in a traffic collision.
