Bad news for any foreign managers in Russia.
It has emerged that the Russian Ministry of Sport has signed a document banning all foreign head coaches from the Russian League.
Russian Eurosport are reporting that the bill was signed on September 21 and was officially published this Wednesday.
Under the terms of the new regulations, clubs will be able to employ foreign coaches, but non-Russians – such as Zenit manager Andre Villas-Boas – are not allowed to be head coach.
It is reported that the Russian national team will still be allowed to have a foreign manager.
Six of the sixteen clubs in the Russian Premier League are run by foreign managers and it is unclear at this stage when – or if – they will be forced to step down.
