Footballer sends stunning series of tweets after forgetting to show up for a cup match

Patrick McCarry

Irish club Longford Town’s cup exit was only half the story, thanks to one player who was miles from their Flancare Park ground.

Pat ‘Pajo’ Flynn, who was on sick leave from club duty, was scrolling through his phone on Tuesday evening when he came across this tweet.

Upon learning that Town were embroiled in a tight tussle with Shamrock Rovers [his former club], Flynn created this work of social art.

Flynn was only joking, of course, but his tweets gained a lot of traction.

Shamrock Rovers kept him updated as the game progressed.

What followed must be the only tweet ever sent that refers to Longford boss Tony Cousins and fast-food chain Abrakebabra in 140 characters.
