Interest in Kompany from Bundesliga club

It seemed at first that Kompany’s decision would hinge on whether or not Burnley would avoid relegation but despite receiving interest from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach, the defender is still open to the possibility of working at Turf Moor.

Whoever the new manager at the Lancashire club is will likely have to deal with a major squad overhaul, given that up to nine players are out of contract, while several others have relegation release clauses that will be seen as tempting to potential suitors.

Key players such as James Tarkowski and club captain Ben Mee are two of those out of contract. Big-name signings Maxwel Cornet and Wout Weghorst are two of those who reportedly have release clauses that can be activated.

But despite the disappointment of suffering relegation and the uncertainty around so many players’ futures, there is said to be excitement at the Clarets around the prospect of someone of Kompany’s pedigree coming to the club.

At the age of 36 and still only in his first job in management, Kompany is still relatively inexperienced in the dugout, but given the status of Anderlecht as one of Belgium’s biggest clubs and his vast knowledge of the Premier League, he is classed as the perfect candidate to help attract new signings and bring Burnley back to the top-flight.
