Shrewsbury player takes corner while reading note, and delivers perfect cross to his teammate to score

Whatever was on that note, it worked

It was heartbreak for League One Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon, as they threw away a two-goal lead against Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers, conceding an injury-time equalizer to send the FA Cup fourth-round tie to a replay. For a few minutes, however, they were on top of the world, with their second goal coming in bizarre circumstances. Midfielder Oliver Norburn was seen reading a mysterious note, just as he took a corner midway through the second half. It was an unusual occurrence, but whatever was written on it, it worked: Norburn's perfectly whipped in cross landed on the head of his teammate Luke Waterfall, who headed it into the back of the net. https://twitter.com/BBCMOTD/status/1089486755995123712 After the game, Shrewsbury boss Sam Rickets was asked what was on the note - and the instructions were pretty simple:

It said put it in the box and then score a goal.

If only all football management was that simple. Greg Docherty put the League One side 1-0 up just after the restart. Wolves, however, pulled one back four minutes after Waterfall's header, through Raul Jimenez's low drive. Matt Doherty then headed in from a corner in the 94th minutes to dash Shrewsbury's hopes of giant-killing, and secure a replay at the Molyneux.
