The Toffees were reduced to nine men

Everton’s defeat to Brentford was made even worse as striker Salomon Rondon was sent off to leave the Toffees ending the game with nine men.

The Toffees had been 2-1 up at one stage and looked on course to securing their place in the Premier League next season, however it all unraveled for Frank Lampard’s side.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin had put the hosts in front as he got a slight touch on Richarlison’s effort to give Everton an all-important lead.

Just moments after Richarlison felt he should have had a penalty for having his shirt pulled in the box, Everton were reduced to 10 men as Jarrad Branthwaite was shown a straight red after he pulled down Ivan Toney while he was bearing through on goal.

Brentford came from behind twice to win the game

The visitors took advantage of this as Yoane Wissa’s deflected effort off Seamus Coleman’s head saw Brentford equalise before Everton found themselves back in front on the stroke of half time, courtesy of a penalty from Richarlison.

Despite the one-man disadvantage Everton still showed promising signs but were eventually pegged back once again as Wissa got his second of the afternoon, a lovely flicked header from Christian Eriksen’s corner.

Two then became three in a matter of moments for the Bees as an exquisite delivery from Eriksen once again met the head of a Brentford man, this time full back Rico Henry, whose effort nestled into the net and gave the west Londoners the lead.

Rondon shown straight red for horror challenge

Everton tried to find a way back into the game before their afternoon got even worse as substitute Rondon was sent off for a horror challenge moments after coming onto the pitch.

The Toffees were unable to find an equaliser and know that they still have two games to go before they can guarantee that they will secure survival.
