Emotional Robbie Savage introduces son Charlie’s Man Utd debut while on commentary duty

Charlie Savage made his professional debut for Manchester United on Wednesday night

It was an emotional night for the Savage family at Old Trafford on Wednesday night as Robbie Savage was able to commentate on his son Charlie's professional debut. The youngster was named amongst the substitutes for United's final Champions League group game against Young Boys as Ralf Rangnick decided to make several changes to the side after they had already qualified for the knockout stages. The home side took the lead through a speculative Mason Greenwood before Donny van de Beek's loose pass fell into the path of Fabian Rieder, who rifled home from 25 yards just before half-time. Before the game, Savage Snr, who played in the famous Class of 92 youth team at United before leaving without ever playing for the first team, explained just how hard his son has had to work to realise his dreams. He said: "I'm starting to tear up. "He's achieved so much in his young life now. "He's never been top of the group, he's always had to meet targets every two years when he was on the borderline and if he was going to be kept on.
