Ronaldo scored four goals for Al Nassr on Thursday
Piers Morgan has been mocked on social media for his "embarrassing" tweet celebrating Cristiano Ronaldo's goalscoring heroics on Thursday.
Ronaldo scored all four goals in Al Nassr's 4-0 win against Al Wehda as he eclipsed 500 league goals in another landmark moment for the 38-year-old.
Morgan, who has formed a strong friendship with the forward, took to social media to congratulate Ronaldo. He tweeted: "BREAKING: Cristiano Ronaldo scores all 4 goals in Al-Nassr’s 4-0 win at Al-Wehda, passing 500 League goals in his career.
"He’s now scored 61 hat-tricks, 30 before he was 30, 31 since he turned 30. He’s now 38. Astounding. Congrats."

Although the tweet was in good taste, others on social media poked fun at Morgan and questioned the quality of the opposition players in the Saudi Pro League.
"Not bad for a league I could score 4 in every game," said one person.

Another tweeted: "He knew he couldn't score against professional goalies so he went to a league with part time construction workers."

One person wrote: "So impressive against the 13th place team in a 16 team league."
Another Twitter user wrote: “Yeah, but have you seen that league? You would even score a hat-trick in it."
