The daughter of football legend Pelé has claimed that her father is not in palliative care, despite ongoing reports suggesting he had been moved to the end-of-life care. Pelé was admitted to hospital last week to re-evaluate his treatment for colon cancer. Last year, the 82-year-old had a tumour removed from his colon and his been receiving treatment ever since. Brazilian news outlet Folha de S.Paulo reported on Saturday that Pelé had been moved to palliative care after the chemotherapy stopped having the expected results. Speaking to Globo TV, she said: "It’s pretty unfair people saying that he is in terminal condition, that he is under palliative care. Believe us: that’s not it." Latest reports from the Albert Einstein hospital in São Paulo were released on Saturday afternoon which said the football legend remained in a stable condition and had responded well to treatment for a respiratory infection diagnosed while in hospital. Kely, Pelé's other daughter, revealed that her father had been diagnosed with covid-19 just three weeks before being admitted to hospital. "He is sick, he is old, but at the moment he is being treated for a respiratory infection and when he gets better he will be back home," she said. "He is not saying goodbye in a hospital right now."
